Assateague National Seashore September, 2006

We arrived at Assateague National Seashore loaded with canoes and planning to paddle a few miles to our campsite. The wind was so strong that launching canoes was not even an option. We hiked the five miles to the campground against a strong wind, but otherwise in perfect weather.

Assateague is famous for it's wild horses.
This one was seen near the start of our trip
using a sign to scratch an itch on its backside.

The water was almost warm.
When we got there we set up camp in the dunes behind a really nice beach.

We had a great time in the sand and surf.

Then it was dinner, sunset, and night-time games.

The hike our was easier going with the wind.
See you all on the next trip!
